Training and school leagues
Build skills, prepare with a team and put your arguments to the test.
School debating. Across the Western Cape.
Big questions belong to young people, too. We bring schools, coaches and learners together to think critically, speak with confidence and listen to a different point of view.
The Western Cape Schools Debating Board supports school debating across the province. From a learner’s first speech to provincial representation, the work is about more than winning a round: it is learning how to understand an issue, build a case and engage fairly with others.
Connect schools with leagues, coaches, training opportunities and a wider debating community.
Create spaces where learners practise critical thinking, confident expression and respectful disagreement.
Bring the region’s debating community together through tournaments and the annual provincial championship.
Select and support a provincial squad on the road to the national stage.
Debating needs people behind the podium, too. Your support can help with coaching, tournaments and provincial participation.
